EAS-SABE

Emotional Assessment System (EAS)
Sistema Autodiagnóstico de Balance Emocional (SABE)
The Emotional Assessment System (EAS) — and its Spanish-language equivalent, Sistema Autodiagnóstico de Balance Emocional (SABE) — was developed by Dr. James Choca and his colleagues as an alternative to other self-report personality questionnaires (MMPI, MCMI, PAI) employed to assess psychiatric disorder. The EAS-SABE was innovative in two respects: The test was designed explicitly so that its subtest scores were aligned with the diagnostic categories employed in the DSM-5 and in ICD-11 systems, and it was administered exclusively via personal computer using the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Between 2019 and 2024 I assisted Dr. Choca in developing a redesigned and enhanced cross-platform (Win/Mac) version of the EAS-SABE. This was available as a free download from his website until early 2025, when both that website and development of EAS-SABE were retired.
Dr. Choca has permitted me to archive here the last (v. 2.10) Windows version of EAS-SABE as a certified downloadable .msi installer, primarily for the benefit of clinicians in Latin America who’d been employing the Spanish-language version for research. (A notarized version of v. 2.10 for macOS may be available here in the future.) Here is the current download link:
A quick-start instructional manual and details regarding the research in support of the EAS-SABE are available (in English) as PDF documents in a .zip archive. (Just note that the link to Dr. Choca’s website is no longer valid.) :
Unlike many so-called personality tests available on the internet for entertainment, EAS-SABE is a research-based diagnostic tool intended specifically for use only by clinicians trained in psychiatric diagnosis.
